Cafe-Restaurant (Licenced)

Visit our quayside Restaurant complex in a converted wharf in Aberaeron, West Wales.
The single storey stone building you enter may look like an Ice Cream Parlour from the outside, but there is serious eating to be enjoyed here.
- By the fire in the whitewashed café.
- In our spacious conservatory.
- Outside in the courtyard, overlooking the harbour.
- Access is easy.

This year we are returning to our original "Savoury Stuffed Pancakes" (some of you may remember them from the '70's?) made with buckwheat or white flour and a variety if tasty fillings in addition to Ploughman’s Lunch of local cheeses and homemade pickles, soups and chowders, crab and lobster salads is served from 11am until 4:00pm.
Cardigan Bay Crab Sandwiches on sourdough (among others), cakes, espresso coffee and Honey Ice Cream Sundaes (including some new creations) are served all day. The Hive will not be open for evening meals during August this year.

Almost everything we serve is homemade, much of it organically produced and does not knowingly contain genetically modified ingredients.
We make our own cakes and ice-creams and serve local cheeses, Jersey cream, Cardigan Bay Lobster and Crab in spectacular salads – lots of Real Food prepared with care and imagination.

In March 2006 'The Independent' chose us as one of their '50 Best UK Cafes' - "This whitewashed café looks like an ice-cream parlour from the outside, but once inside you'll realise there is much more to the place than its acclaimed home-made honeycomb ice-cream."

In 2005, 'The Independent'  included us in their Top 50 best places to dine on a budget - £25 for 2 people.

In November 2005 'Olive' magazine included the Hive in their top 100 restaurants in the UK, and in September, we featured in the best family friendly restaurants.

Our Orange and Honey Yoghurt Ice won a Bronze from Taste of Wales Food & Drink Awards. The judges said, "Simply the best yoghurt ice cream we've ever tasted. Fabulous - has lightness and sharpness, the flavours come zinging through".
